As the two become texting buddies, neither one can forget the sparks that ignite whenever they’re together. But when Izzy suggests that they exchange a few friendly texts with her playing the role of Starbucks Amy, well, he can’t seem to resist. As someone who works in HR, Blake is unwilling to cross any lines with an employee, so he tries to cut off contact. They exchange numbers and things are looking up… until Izzy discovers that Blake is her new boss’s boss. So when Izzy accidentally dumps that drink all over a handsome stranger, he’s under the impression that the cute girl he just had the perfect meet cute with is named Amy.

When the line at the coffee shop is taking too long, she finds herself claiming an abandoned drink meant for someone named Amy. The story follows Izzy, a woman who is just starting a new job. I think extending some of the scenes (and doing a more thorough check for typos) would’ve done wonders for the book, but this was easygoing, lighthearted and sexy, so I’m not complaining. There’s not much that I didn’t like about the story, though it certainly could’ve been longer – this was originally written as a serial for a newsletter, which explains the short length and sheer speed of every interaction. I loved how much texting and conversation there was between the characters, which made it easy to see all of the reasons they’re perfect together. Absolutely FILLED with playful banter, this low angst rom com gets the chemistry right.

Did I read this because of that adorable cover? 100%, but I don’t regret it.
